Barber Pop & The Old Way Cafe

TGIF!

Friday means grooming day! Today i went to one of the new-opened Barbershop in Town. The place name BARBER POP. It's located on Karangsari 2, Setia Budi Bandung next to Saka Bistro and Bar (one of must-try cafe in Bandung). This place quite far from my place actually, it took an hour on normal traffic and today we (me and friend) need 2 hours to landed on our feet due to the heavy rainy traffic jam.

I would like to share a lil bit information about the places that i've been through today. Actually i went to four different places. The first stop was Baso Semar Karapitan, then Barberpop, moved to the Movie Room, and the last one was The Old Way Cafe. But on this post there are only 2 places that i'd love to talk about which are BarberPop and The Oldway Cafe because these 2 places has same concept based on my point of view: 90's concept!

BARBERPOP
"We Treat You Like A Pop Star"

Well, as you can see the place was mostly covered with red and black colour which i believed was made that way to remind us about the 90's Pop Era. And just like what they said "We treat you like a pop star" is something that you'll experience if you choose to do your haircut here just like me. From the very first step you take on this place you'll breathe the 90's soul i believe. The place is not really big, guess it was adjusted with amount of customer their hairdresser can handle. From the outside we already can see the whole inside room due to the big-clear window they used. The style of the entrance door was inspired by Japanese-style- the sliding door. Stepped on the inside you'll find cashier at the left and an array of table and chair for hair cut on the right, checking the queing list is something that you have to do right away.

I do not need to wait too long to get my haircut, for your information actually it was the 2nd branch of BARBER POP in Bandung, first one is located on Cimanuk under the Vanilla Cafe, but since it was always full-booked i got no choice this new opened branch was the only option. The hairdresser did his job good enough. He did it the way i want just like every detail that i've explained before. What i really enjoyed for haircutting my hair at BARBER POP was the calming massage from head to shoulder for 10 minutes. After spoiled with the massage, the hairdresser turn around the chair that i currenly sat on faced to the large sink provided to wash the hair, then he covered my eyes with a warm towel that i surprisingly found felt really good. And then after finally washed my hair and put some wax, my IDR50K treatment finally over. Such a worthy treatment for student with the comfortable chair, an exclusive LCD TV right in front of me, and the very relaxing massage. I believe finally i found the perfect place for hair treatment.

The Old Way Cafe

2nd Place that i visited today was The Old Way Cafe which located on RE. Martadinata ( next to Bober Cafe). I believe it was also a new opened place because before I return to Makassar a week ago, i didn't see it. Just like BARBER POP, this cafe also mostly covered with red and black. A simply warm greeting from the waiters is something that you'll find at the very beginning. Just like what i believe, this cafe just opened for few days. And thank god because of it I can freely choose the seat that I want, and decided to enjoy my dinner on this friday night upstairs that directly facing to the road downstairs

Thing i really like from the upper floors is the old-fashioned paintings that looks fun. For an example there is one painting that pictured the 90's Pop Star as guest of Jesus's Last Supper. No wonder they name the cafe that way. After mesmerized with the paintings i finally come back to my consciousness for starve and immediatly asked for menu. They offers different kinds of menu both Asian and Western with affordable price of course, which i found also confuse me to decide what's for dinner.

Suddenly i remembered my lecturer ever told me about this kind of situation. He told me if you come to a new opened resto or cafe and find your self confuse to pick the menu, then Fried Rice ( Nasi Goreng ) is definetly an answer. He said the fried rice is such a simple dish that is easy to made, so if the fried rice not good do not expect for goodness for another menu. Well it is not as obvious as that actually, but yeah in the end The Old Way Cafe Fried Rice accompanied with sweet ice tea and green tea milkshake for dessert was destined to be menu of today's dinner. The fried rice taste good, not too salty not too spicy. Beside there's a chicken satay that complete this simple dish. The Green Tea Milkshake is the must-try menu if you made your way here. Me and my friend hardly can't believe if the coziness of this place was success drives us into a long nice chat for 3 hours

But actually there are things that i found should be improved from this place such as the less comfortable seat that i occupied because it was made too short at the back so i can't laid back. And also there is no music as entertainment, most worst of all is no Wi-Fi connection. Realize as a new kid on the block, they've been prepared a questionnaire form for customers feedback and suggestions. So those i found as flaws was written on the the form that they gave us. Well what could i say about this place is this place deserve for a shot because it has a nice concept and lots of menu with affordable price indeed. Interested ?
